.....meanwhile, here's a quick puzzle for those of you without broadband.

An old man wanted to leave all of his money to one of his three sons, but he didn't know which one he should give it to. He gave each of them a few coins and told them to buy something that would be able to fill their living room. The first man bought straw, but there was not enough to fill the room. About Highland Games

How to punch penny sized holes in wood

Highland Games, founded in 1989, is a small business devoted to the development of original, high quality, hand-crafted dice and curious wooden objects. We have been selling our products on the web since 1998.

Our product range may be divided into two broad categories, namely wooden and resin-cast.

The wooden products are an entirely new concept in the world of woodworking. Comprising brightly coloured wood veneer shapes heat-glued onto high-strength ribbon, sometimes with magnets added in devious places, they can be folded to form a myriad of geometric patterns. The result can be a baffling puzzle, a mathematical oddity, or a delightful magic trick. The quality of the product stems not only from the originality of the designs but also from the manner in which each item is meticulously hand-crafted. We have met the challenge of creating, from scratch, the tools and jigs that produce our tricks and toys. Each piece is stained, varnished, waxed and then shaped to a tolerence of 1/2 mm with tools specifically designed for this task by us.

dice spotters

Our dice range is made by setting coloured resins in silicon rubber moulds. The resulting casting is ground, buffed, tumbled and polished before having the spots applied, all by hand. By adding colour pigments in different ways, we can produce marbled, spotted, striped or speckled dice. Adding concealed weights or altering the numbers produces dice which favour certain numbers.

Since 1989, this company has specialised in the hand-crafted production of such weird and wonderful objects that our biggest problem has been making their purpose clear to a prospective customer. Demonstration and word of mouth were our only tools. Now, with the opportunity presented by the internet, we hope to share these delights with a larger public. Browse the pictures and animations on these pages and explore the cunningly eccentric world of Highland Games. Please CONTACT us with any queries or comments. We thrive on feedback.
